The city is situated close to lucrative east-west trade routes and is therefore of particular importance in trade between Asia and Europe. In the course of history this characteristic had made the city an important point on the crossroads of rival empires. At the same time it formed a multicultural city which is home to more than 100 different ethnic groups.

In the western part of Georgia, at the basin of Rioni river, is located Imereti. It is an area of relict forests, beautiful waterfalls, ancient monasteries, mysterious caves, delicious food and unique wine. The region differs from other parts of Georgia by subtropical, humid and very warm climate. The soil is very calcareous.

Grapes, Persimmons and Pears are cultivated here.

Shida Kartli

Shida Kartli is located in Central Georgia.The old alluvial, fertile soils are present in the area. The climate is warm and humid, similar to that of the southern foothills of the Italian Alps. Peaches, Apples and Apricots are cultivated here.

Adjara

On the south-eastern coast of the Black Sea, Adjara extends over the wooded foothills and mountains of the Lesser Caucasus. The highest mountains rise more than 3,000 meters above sea level. Adjara is known for its humid climate and prolonged rainstorms, although it`s plenty of sunshine during the spring and summer months. The region has different types of soils, from red to yellow and brown.

Cultivated products in the region are Apples, Feijoa, Citrus fruits.

Mtskheta-Mtianeti

In the eastern part of Georgia lies Mtskheta-Mtianeti. The region is known for its gentle climatic conditions, even in winter. The summer is usually long and hot. This corner of the country, especially thanks to the impressive combination of mountains and plains, is very attractive and diverse. There are snow-capped peaks of the Great Caucasus in the height of 3500 to 5000 meters, mountain passes, remote lakes and alpine valleys.

Pears, Quinces and Cherries are cultivated in the region.

Kvemo Kartli

One of the most beautiful regions of Georgia, located in the southern part of the country. The relief of the region includes mountain ranges, semi-desert areas and very extensive plains. The climate is dry and relatively warm. The area is characterized by carboniferous and loamy soil.

Melons, Peaches and Plums are largely cultivated here.

Racha-Lechkhumi - Kvemo Svaneti

In the northern part of the country is Racha-Letchkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti. In these areas the rational use of natural and historical-cultural resources, eco-tourism and environmental protection is made possible at the same time. Loamy, sandy, calcareous, carbonated shale soils are present in the region. The climate is moderately humid, subtropical and mountain-subtropical.

Grapes, Apples and Peaches come from the region.

Racha-Lechkhumi - Kvemo Svaneti
Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti

Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti

Located in western Georgia, it includes the historical Georgian provinces of Samegrelo and Zemo Svaneti. The area is characterized by dampness and yellow earth. Following climatic conditions are present: moderate, subtropical, subalpine and alpine.

The main products from this region are Kiwi, Feijoa and Citrus fruits.

Kakheti

The Kakheti region, known for its wine production, is located in the eastern part of the country. Its breathtaking landscape includes snow-capped peaks of the Caucasus Mountains, with altitudes of 3300 to 4500 meters above sea level as well as deciduous forests with about 85% beeches, oaks and hornbeams. Calcareous and loamy humus soils characterize the region.

The climate is moderate and dry in the summer season.

Plums, Grapes and Strawberries are cultivated in the area.

Kakheti
Guria

Guria

Directly on the Black Sea coast, Guria is located in the western part of the country. There are two main landscape types here: the coastal areas dominated by agriculture, characterized by flat, open landscapes with a wide view of the Caucasus Mountains and the foothills of the Lesser Caucasus. The soil is predominantly red. The climate is subtropical and wet.

Pears, Tangerines and Kiwi are cultivated in the region.

Samtskhe-Javakheti

Samtskhe-Javakheti

The region of Samtskhe-Javakheti, which is situated in South Georgia, borders with Armenia and Turkey. The region is characterized by the continental climate, with summer period lasting 4-5 months. Because of its very contrasting climate, Javakheti is not a very densely populated area. In winter it is colder here than in the rest of Georgia. Sometimes extreme temperatures of down to minus 40 degrees Celsius occur.

Pears, Apples and many different berries are cultivated here.
